LaLiga Result: Getafe 1-1 Barcelona - Player Ratings & Match Highlights
Barcelona's brilliant frontline went missing as Hansi Flick's side passed up the chance to take full advantage of Atletico Madrid's defeat.
Barcelona were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw at Getafe as their poor run of form in La Liga continued on Saturday night.
Barca - who had won their last two games in the Super Cup and the Copa del Rey 5-1 and 5-2 - scored for the first time at Getafe since September 2019 when Jules Kounde beat goalkeeper David Soria at the second attempt in a scrappy ninth-minute opener.
Raphinha should have made it 2-0 just after the half-hour mark when his header from close range hit the side netting and the visitors were made to pay for their profligacy almost immediately.
Goalkeeper Inaki Pena could only palm Coba da Costa's volley to the unsuspecting Mauro Arambarri, who, seemingly inadvertently, bundled in an equaliser in the 34th minute.
Robert Lewandowski missed a golden chance to restore the away side's lead shortly before the break but his miscued header went narrowly wide.
Substitute Frenkie de Jong brought a great save out of Soria, who wasn't tested enough in the contest, and the misfiring Raphinha wasted a big opportunity of his own.
Tempers threatened to boil over at the death as Flick's team took exception to Getafe's time-wasting and histrionics but Jose Bordalas' resolute side deserved their point.
The result means the Blaugrana, who have won just one of their last eight league games, failed to fully capitalise on Atletico Madrid's shock loss at Leganes earlier on Saturday, with Real Madrid having the chance to go top of La Liga on Sunday.
Goalkeeper & Defence
Inaki Pena (5/10):
Should have pushed Da Costa's effort away to safety, rather than back into traffic, and Barca paid the price for it.
Jules Kounde (7/10):
Showed his goalscoring instincts with a second goal in as many games and put in some dangerous crosses into the box. But, like Barca, sometimes his defensive play needs work.
Ronald Araujo (7/10):
On what was his first league game of the season after a lengthy injury, the big defender was solid at the back.
Pau Cubarsi (6/10):
Seemed to be ball-watching for Getafe's equaliser as he was second to the ball behind Arambarri. But made a good last-ditch tackle late on.
Alejandro Balde (6/10):
Gets forward with regular ease but sometimes his side of the field looked a tad vulnerable.
Midfield
Marc Casado (6/10):
Didn't do a lot wrong but clearly was not doing enough as he was hooked at half-time by Barca manager Flick.
Pedri (7/10):
Played a beautiful, incisive pass into Kounde for his team's opener and looked one of the most likely to unlock Getafe's defence again.
Gavi (6/10):
Has been in great form of late but couldn't produce his best and made way for Dani Olmo.
Attack
Raphinha (5/10):
The Brazilian had an off night as he wasn't sharp in front of goal and in attack. Will rue some of his misses.
Robert Lewandowski (5/10):
The veteran striker had a quiet outing and when he was called upon he didn't deliver the goods.
Lamine Yamal (6/10):
His tricks and flicks were on display but sometimes his decision-making wasn't quite up to scratch.
Subs & Manager
Frenkie de Jong (7/10):
Brought on at half time and had a positive impact off the bench.
Dani Olmo (7/10):
Added more creativity when he came on and perhaps should have started.
Ferran Torres (N/A):
Didn't get many chances to shine off the bench.
Hansi Flick (6/10):
The German became the latest Barca manager to struggle at Getafe. His side didn't offer enough in attack and got complacent when they were in the lead. His substitutes were positive, though.
